Introduction to the Cutera Excel V Laser
Aesthetic Solutions operates several different Cutera Excel V lasers. This family of lasers traces its lineage back to the LaserScope KTP lasers of the early '80s. The current model has been updated in recent years, offering the ND:YAG 1064nm and the new LBO 532nm laser. This makes for a durable platform that is an excellent all-around "workhorse" laser.
The Excel V is the most-used laser in dermatology offices and is often the most utilized in medspas as well. This laser ensures you can treat any vascular complaints your patients may have that can be addressed with laser technology. By using the Excel V, you can offer more services, better serve your clients, and avoid referring them out of your practice. No matter your focus, the Excel V will enhance your practice!
Comprehensive Treatment Capabilities
The Excel V excels at treating conditions that can be targeted with hemoglobin. This includes angiomas, telangiectasia, background erythema seen with rosacea, spider veins on the legs and abdomen, red scars, vascular birthmarks (including Port Wine Stains), and many more.
Angiomas
Effectively removes all types of superficial angiomas.
For angiomas smaller than 4mm in diameter, a single treatment will remove 99% of them.
For angiomas larger than 4mm, particularly spider angiomas, 2-4 treatments may be required, spaced one month apart.
Rosacea Treatment
Effectively reduces redness and inflammation associated with rosacea.
Patients typically see a 25-40% improvement with each treatment, which can be done monthly.
This laser treatment will permanently remove the vessels causing the redness. However, due to the chronic nature of rosacea, most patients will need a "touch-up" every 6-12 months, depending on the severity of their condition.
Telangiectasia Removal
Targets small, visible blood vessels for a clearer skin appearance.
Patients average about 25% improvement with each treatment and can be treated monthly.
If this condition is caused by rosacea, genetics, or lifestyle triggers, new vessels may appear in the future. However, once treated, the existing vessels are gone.
Leg Vein Treatment
For vessels under 4mm in diameter, laser treatment is the least intrusive option for removal.
The Excel V can target smaller vessels than sclerotherapy, often with less chance of bruising or hemosiderin staining.
Compression stockings are not required afterward, unlike other treatments.
Patients can expect 25-50% improvement with each treatment, spaced three months apart.
Dyschromia Correction
Effectively reduces the brown and red discoloration associated with dyschromia and poikiloderma.
Expect a minimum of three treatments, one month apart. We must proceed slowly to avoid "honeycombing."
An average of 90% clearance is seen after three treatments, which is satisfactory for most patients. However, for 100% clearance, 5-6 treatments may be required.
Vascular Birthmark Management
Safely and effectively treats a range of vascular birthmarks.
Treatment numbers will vary based on depth, thickness, and cause.
For non-recurrent types such as Port Wine Stains, 25-50% improvement with each treatment is common, spaced one month apart.
Laser Genesis
Often referred to as the "Hollywood Laser."
Uses 1064nm to stimulate collagen, remove fine pigment, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Treatments can be done regularly every 4-6 weeks or until patient results are satisfactory. Everyone's end goals can differ here!
Superior Wavelength Technology
The 532nm wavelength is known as the gold standard for hemoglobin isolation. While the 585-595nm pulsed dye offers broader absorption, the 532nm can more precisely target the vessels you want to treat. This means we can more aggressively target the vessels without damaging surround tissue, so you won't experience the purpura common with the Vbeam family of lasers, and bruising and swelling are reduced overall compared to pulsed dye lasers.
The current iteration of the Excel V uses an LBO crystal, which is much more stable and reliable than the older KTP crystals used in the first generation of the Excel V. This means more available energy from the laser and fewer complications.
Clinical and Business Advantages
Improved Patient Outcomes
Consistent and predictable results increase patient loyalty. We know what works and what doesn't, allowing you to consult your patients with confidence. You will see real-world results from patients and have access to our techs for less common treatments. This means you won't have to guess or set expectations low.
Versatility Reduces Equipment Needs
The ability to treat multiple conditions with one laser optimizes your rental. While most offices rent this alongside a Q-switch, resurfacing, or hair removal laser, the Excel V can handle most treatments an aesthetic practice will want to address. If you're starting with a single laser, this is the one to choose!
Competitive Edge in the Market
Offering Excel V treatments can attract a wider patient base. It's a commonly searched laser, and even when it isn't, the procedures it can offer are. Compete directly with local offices offering similar treatments and maintain a concrete advantage over those using older generation technology like the Vbeam, GentleMax, or BBL/IPL systems.
Conclusion
The Excel V is an ideal fit for any aesthetics office. While other lasers we offer may be better for specialized treatments, when paired with the Genesis handpiece, it can address nearly all aesthetic complaints suitable for laser treatment. If you're looking to test the waters, the Excel V is the laser to start with. We can always add others later on!
